Designing and renovating Church buildings is an exciting season. I love checking out the building awards and cafe building awards websites for new and innovative ideas. Review many of the commercial building designs that have received awards and raving reviews. You can find some very original ideas that would work great with your shell.

Put together a team of professionals that can help you in birthing this venture. Do lots of research in what works and what doesn’t (especially with the sanctuaries and acoustics). Shop around for quotes and materials to cut down costs – it will be worth it in the long run.

The Church building needs to be safe and stable both outside and in the building. Inspections and maintenance should be done yearly, by a team of people who are familiar with the current legislations. You may have some experienced people in your Church that you could call on to do a yearly inspection. Have a coffee and walk around the place together taking notes on what they are reporting.
